What to Expect in Your First Colonic Hydrotherapy Session

Before your first colonic hydrotherapy session, we’ll send you a health history form to complete. This allows us to prepare and understand the reason for your visit. When you arrive, we’ll begin by discussing your symptoms, lifestyle, and what has brought you here. Following this, we’ll provide a brief overview of digestive health and its significance. If your digestive system isn’t functioning properly, other areas of your health can be impacted, as nutrients may not be absorbed effectively, and waste can be reabsorbed into the body.

Many people find this part of the session insightful, as digestive health is not a topic often discussed. Gaining a better understanding of how your digestive system operates can shed light on why it might not be working as it should.

Once we’ve gone through this, we’ll ensure you’re comfortable. You’ll have the opportunity to use the bathroom to empty your bladder, helping you relax during the session. A modesty sheet will be provided to keep you covered throughout.

When you’re on the bed, we’ll use completely sterile, disposable tubing. A soft, flexible tube is gently inserted, and we’ll guide you through the process step by step to ensure you feel at ease. While it might feel slightly unusual at first, this sensation typically fades quickly.

The procedure begins with water being gently infused into your colon. You may notice a slight sensation, which could feel a bit cool, but it shouldn’t be painful. We’ll check in with you throughout to make sure you remain comfortable. For example, you can let us know if the pressure feels too high by rating it on a scale from zero to ten, keeping it at a manageable level.

The process is completely hygienic and odour-free. During the session, we’ll observe the material being released and discuss potential reasons for your symptoms. This step allows us to provide tailored education and support to help improve your health.

Throughout the cleanse, your body will benefit from hydration. If you’re open to it, we can also offer aromatherapy or a gentle abdominal massage with essential oils to reduce bloating and enhance comfort.

The cleansing process usually lasts around 45 minutes. Afterwards, you’ll use the bathroom, where you may experience a further release of water that has travelled higher into your colon. Most people feel fantastic after their session.

Once the session is complete, we’ll go over our findings and suggest steps to help support your digestive health moving forward. It’s completely normal to feel nervous before your first colonic hydrotherapy session, but our job is to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible. For many people, it’s a surprisingly pleasant and calming experience.
